Pollination Campaigns have just completed their first six months as communications consultants to Deafness Cognition and Language (DCAL) Research Centre based at UCL.
DCAL is a world renowned centre of excellence for research on BSL. The centre brings together leading Deaf and hearing researchers in the fields of sign linguistics, psychology, and neuroscience.
Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) it is essential that alongside its research, DCAL has an impact on the communities it works with, as well as policy makers and opinion formers. Pollination Campaigns have worked with the centre to develop a comprehensive communications plan and their work in a number of areas.
Over the last six months Pollination Campaigns have supported DCAL on a variety of activities including: submitting a response to the Department for Communities and Local Government's Green Paper on the Single Equality Bill, ensuring they can feed into the Bercow speech, language and communication review and securing a House of Commons event, sponsored by All Party Group on Deafness Chair, Malcolm Bruce MP. The distribution of DCAL’s newsletter has been increased to include a greater number of influential politicians and policy makers, and regular information about the centre’s activities supplied to National and specialist press and information websites.
We are looking forward to continued success in 2008.
